国際社会でリーダーシップを発揮し活躍するための英語によるコミュニケーション能力の育成と国際理解教育に重点を置いた教育活動を通じ、地球的視野に立って行動する態度・能力を育成し、大阪の産業の国際競争力の強化及び大阪における国際的な経済活動の拠点の形成に寄与する人材を育てることを目的として、新たに設置された中高一貫教育校である水都国際中学校・高等学校も設立から二年が経ちました。
一期生が各々の校種での最終学年となった今年度は学校としても大変重要な一年となります。このきわめて重要なタイミングで校長に任ぜられましたことに感謝いたしますとともにその責任をひしひしと感じております。
先進的な教育プログラムの実践をもとに、大阪市をはじめとする関西地域の小中学校及び高等学校にその教育手法を普及しカリキュラム開発を行うなど、学校教育全体の学力向上に寄与する拠点校とすることを標榜してスタートいたしましたが、この二年間は極めて順調に推移してきています。
国家戦略特別区域法における学校教育法の特例を活用し、公立学校の運営を民間の学校法人である大阪ＹМＣＡに委託された本校は、公立学校としての教育水準及び公共性を保ちながら、民間の知見を活用することで、これまでにないフレキシブルな教育の実現を求められています。
私自身、民間企業で長く務めた経験、公立学校校長をはじめとする公教育に携わった経験、国立大学法人 大阪教育大学での特任教授としての経験をもとに本校をステージにした教育改革に貢献してまいりたいと考えております。また、学校の運営責任者として本校の進む方向を見据え設立の趣旨を最大限発揮できる学校経営を心掛けてまいります。

Two years have passed since the establishment of Suito Kokusai Junior and Senior High School, a newly established school in Suminoe Ward, Osaka City. At this school, we aim to foster human resources who will contribute to the strengthening of the international competitiveness of Osaka's industries and the formation of an international economic hub in Osaka. Through educational activities focused on the development of communication skills in English and education for international understanding, we aim to nurture attitudes and abilities that allow students to act from a global perspective in order to play an active leadership role in the international community.
This academic year is a very important year for our school because it is the first time that junior and senior high students are in their final years of their respective schools. I would like to express my gratitude for being appointed as the principal of the school at this very important time. I feel a strong sense of responsibility.
With a mandate to create advanced educational programs, Suito Kokusai is intended to be a model school that will disseminate its educational methods to elementary, junior high and senior high schools in Osaka City and the Kansai region, widely promoting improved curricula and academic performance.
Under the special provisions of the School Education Law by the National Strategic Special Zone Law, the management of the public school was entrusted to Osaka YMCA Educational Foundation, a private school corporation. Suito Kokusai is required to realize unprecedented flexibility in education by utilizing knowledge from the private sector while maintaining the standards and ethos of a public school.
After many years working in senior positions for a private company, I spent years in public education environments as a public high school principal and so on. More recently, I served as a professor emeritus at Osaka Kyoiku University, a national university corporation. At Suito Kokusai, I plan to guide educational reform. As Suito Kokusai’s new principal, I will keep an eye on the direction of the school and try to manage the school in a way that realizes the purpose for its establishment.
We will continue to provide people with information as needed, and we would be very happy to hear people’s various opinions.
